Richard Mauro, first coach of the Lausanne City women's team

Richard Mauro women's team coach

Lausanne City are delighted to announce the appointment of Richard Mauro as head coach of their women's team. With a UEFA B diploma under his belt, Richard brings valuable expertise and an unwavering passion for women's football and the club's project.

Richard will officially join the women's team on 1 July 2025 (resumption).

We had the pleasure of interviewing him, who shared with us his career path, his vision and his ambitions for the club.

A warm welcome
I'm very well, thank you, glad to be here.

Richard started training with great energy, showing his enthusiasm for joining our club.

A 33-year career in football

With 33 years' experience in football, Ricard Mauro began his career at Ecublens before spending 17 years at FC Concordia. “I've been in football for a very long time,” he said, underlining his commitment and passion for the sport.

A coach by nature

When we asked him why he chose to become a coach, his answer was clear: "I wasn't good enough as a player, but I was good at analysis, so I'd say it came naturally". His analytical skills and understanding of the game led him naturally to coaching.

An inspiring project

Our coach also expressed his enthusiasm for the Lausanne City project: "The club has clear ideas about what it wants to put in place, and I'm interested in the project to help develop women's football". He stressed the importance of this initiative for the club's future.

Intense emotions on the pitch

Reflecting on his experiences on the pitch, he shared: "What a match! Complicated, but won! Finals and promotion matches; perhaps the most inexplicable emotion for me." These highlights are an integral part of his passion for football.

The keys to success

For him, the key to success lies in ‘perseverance, the study of football and hard work’. These values will be essential in guiding the team towards collective passion.

Passions off the pitch

Aside from football, Richard told us about his various hobbies, including ‘nutrition and cooking’. With a smile, he shared his passion for these disciplines, which complement his sporting commitment.

An honour to work with talent

"An honour to be able to work with such ambitious people," he said of the club's team and staff. This recognition shows his respect for his colleagues.

A promising season

Looking to the future, he hopes to ‘enjoy a season of joy’, filled with success and achievement.

Football, a time for reunion

Finally, our coach concluded on an important note: "Football should also be a time for getting together and having fun, and that's what can lead to success." This vision highlights the very essence of sport and its role in forging links.

We can't wait to see the impact our coach will have on the women's team, and look forward to a rewarding adventure together.
