Defeat to leaders FC Bottens

A tough but promising match.

Defeat to leaders FC Bottens

This weekend, our first team took on league leaders FC Bottens in what promised to be a tough game. With several key players absent, as well as our suspended and injured goalkeepers, it was going to be a tough task.

Despite this, the players present showed great fighting spirit, but facing a confident and well-oiled team added a layer of complexity to the match.

The first goal of the game came in a rather fortunate fashion for the opponents. A shot bounced off the post and fell straight to the feet of the FC Bottens striker, who just had to push the ball into the back of the net. This twist of fate put our team under pressure and, unfortunately, two more goals were conceded before half-time, widening the gap and making the task even more difficult.

It was a different Cityzens side from the restart. The first few minutes were marked by clear chances, notably from Bruno SA and Robyn Parente, who both had the opportunity to reduce the deficit. However, the FC Bottens keeper defended his goal brilliantly, making some spectacular saves to keep our team at bay.

As the match wore on, our players became increasingly tired, and conceded two more goals. Despite this defeat, the fighting spirit shown by our players suggests they have potential for future matches.

We look forward to seeing the team back in full strength for the final sprint of the season, in order to achieve the goals set by the club. We would like to extend our warmest thanks to all the supporters who came out to cheer on the team. Your support is precious and essential at this difficult time!

See you next Sunday for another final. Come and support your club!
