Arnold Borges joins Lausanne City as Head of Training.

Hello Arnold, how are you ?

Hello, yes I am fine... even better after this surreal period due to the pandemic and a surgery.

Tell us about yourself in a few words ?

I grew up and was trained in the Chablais Valais (Monthey) before finishing my junior categories and starting my senior career on the other side of the Rhone in Aigle. Then I travelled to several clubs: Roche, Lutry, Renens, St-Légier, UPFL, Lonay.

I started my coaching training in Renens (Junior E). Then there is La Sallaz (C Inter and B), Concordia Lausanne (C Inter) and Renens (4th league).

Why did you choose to join the Lausanne City staff ?

For two reasons:

1) The project proposed by the president, who is a friend;

2) Football: this sport has been part of my life since I was walking... it is part of me and that will never change. It has allowed me to grow and meet so many people and places.

"My aim as head of the academy is to train and guide future players in all aspects of the sport."

What do you think of the club's project ?

It's an ambitious and exciting project, just like its creator, but above all it's a dream and a challenge for a football fan like me. The fact of participating in the creation of a club and being able to bring your football convictions to it... it's exciting!

What will be your role in the club ? What can you bring to the project ?

I would be responsible for the training (Academy). My goal will be to train and guide future players in all aspects of the sport: to be a trainer and educator so that these young people love the sport as much as I do... that they become passionate about it.

"This project is ambitious and exciting, just like it's creator, but above all a dream and a challenge for a football fan like me."

What can we wish you in this new challenge ?

Patience and all the best for the club and in my job.
