After a well-deserved winter break, our first team returned to action to take on FC Venoge, and to say the least, the players did not disappoint the hundreds of fans who turned out for the game. After a hard-fought match, Lausanne City triumphed 2-1.

The Cityzens showed their determination from the outset. The first half was largely dominated by our players, who had numerous chances but failed to convert them, thanks in part to the quality of the opposing keeper. However, the players' perseverance paid off. A fine run by Alban Kosumi, who was able to evade two defenders, was followed by a foul in the penalty area. The referee did not hesitate and awarded a penalty. Alban stepped up to take the penalty, coolly converting it to give his side the lead before the break.
At half-time, our team led 1-0, and the players returned to the pitch with the firm intention of maintaining their lead. However, the second half saw Venoge step up the pressure on the Lausanne defence. The first ten minutes were difficult, with the team having to show resilience. Gradually, our players found their rhythm again, and it was then that a moment of magic occurred. Robyn Parent, the team's striker, scored an exceptional goal, doubling the lead for his team and reigniting the enthusiasm of the fans.
Despite this blow, Venoge did not give up and managed to reduce the deficit, reviving the suspense in the final minutes of the match. However, Tony Parente's men could have extended their lead with a few clear-cut chances, but clumsy finishing left the score at 2-1.
The next match promises to be just as exciting, with a trip to the formidable Sous-Ville stadium to take on FC Baulmes, a strong potential promotion contender this season. Our players will be hoping to capitalise on this momentum and build on their good work during the week with a series of positive performances.
