A frustrating draw against Baulmes on Matchday 13

Updated: Apr 1

Our Cityzens experienced a match full of upsets in their draw with Baulmes, an opponent fighting for promotion. Despite missing several key players, the team showed determination and solidarity.

A frustrating draw against Baulmes on Matchday 13

In the 55th second, a key moment marked the start of the match: a Lausanne City goal was cancelled out by the referee. The referee felt that the advantage should not have been allowed to stand following a foul by the opposing goalkeeper, who should have been penalised. The referee's decision prompted reactions from the players and supporters at the Stade Sous-Ville in Baulmes, who would have given our players the ideal start.

Despite the many absentees, the players showed a collective strength that undermined the home team's strategy. At half-time, the score was still level, but the determination of our players was clear to see.

The second half saw the Cityzens continue their attacking momentum. Their efforts were finally rewarded when Moustapha Sambe scored to give his team the lead. The players were galvanised and continued to push to extend their lead. However, fate decided otherwise. From a corner, the home team equalised, putting the score back to zero.

Despite several chances on both sides, the score remained 1-1 until the end of the match. Although the result was a fair one given the way the game went, it left a bitter taste in the mouths of the Lausanne City players and supporters present on Sunday. The first minute and the disallowed goal are still fresh in their minds, but the team showed that it has the resources to compete with top-level opposition, even without several key players.

Another week of work begins in preparation for our next home match, when we welcome FC Villars-Tiercelin to Cugy on Friday 4 April at 20:00.
